Quilts

As a young girl I was able to visit the Seminole and Miccosukee villages in the Florida Everglades. I fell in love with the intricate and colorful patchwork patterns on their clothing. I love color and I collect patterns; natural objects such as shells, rocks, feathers, seed pods and sticks. I also collect art patterns of quilts, molas from the Cuna Indians in the San Blas Islands, Guatemalan folk art, Oaxacan painted wood carvings, beaded African work, and Seminole patchwork. My enamel designs are often influenced by my pattern collections.
My quilt enamels often use a basic grid structure around a central theme as I build the enamel layers of color and pattern.
