As I paddle in my kayak down a crystal clear spring fed or tannic colored river, along tidal creeks, across a lake, or hugging the coastal bays all I see are “Gems”, the jewels, and treasures in the water and along the banks. These enamels are often depicting the treasures of Florida swamps but sometimes I will find a “Gem” when I am exploring elsewhere. I also like to discover treasures in folklore stories or create my own stories. I will often use the jewel like beauty of metallic gold and silver foils to embellish these enamels. I hope for these enamels to bring an awareness and appreciation of treasured gems.
