Scapes
These enamels are basic abstractions of the design elements of lines, shapes, colors, and textures that I see. I work in a spontaneous way. Each design decision in the enamel layer is based on the results from the previous layer and firing.
The “Riverscapes” are my interpretation of where the water meets the dense vegetation. This is my kayak view horizon line which rarely includes the sky. I take many photographs as I kayak. In the studio I enlarge these photos so I can simplify and abstract what I see.
The "Windowscape" is a simplification of the basic elements that I see as I look out the window or what I see inside the room surrounding the square or rectangle window.
